Emilien Boutillat

Émilien Boutillat is the Chief Winemaker (Chef de Cave) at Piper-Heidsieck, a position he joined in October 2018 after working six harvests at Champagnes Cattier and Armand de Brignac. Born in Champagne to a winegrower father specializing in Pinot Meunier, he studied oenology and viticulture at Montpellier SupAgro before gaining international experience in New Zealand, Chile, South Africa, California, Bordeaux, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. He received the IWC Sparkling Winemaker of the Year 2021 award and has led Piper-Heidsieck to become the first B Corp-certified Champagne house in 2022.
