i. Biography
The Path
The role is custodial as much as administrative: the domaine’s character is tied to its vines, its parcels, and the discipline of keeping those elements legible in the glass. In that sense, the path has been shaped by steady attention to vineyard expression and by a refusal to force the wine away from its place.
The Work Today
He remains the owner today. The specialty is terroir-focused Burgundies, built around nuance rather than volume. Soil, site, and season are left to register clearly, so the wines hold detail without dressing it up. Under Fabien Geantet’s stewardship, the domaine is organized around that restraint: Burgundy rendered with enough precision that each wine can be read back to its origin.
Signature
Fabien's signature dishes include Geantet-Pansiot Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Plantes, Geantet-Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, Geantet-Pansiot Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes, and Geantet-Pansiot Marsannay Rouge. Seen together, these names map a familiar Burgundy geography, each cuvée suggesting a different register within the domaine’s style. They are the labels through which his work is most readily recognized: composed, site-specific, and anchored in the precision of terroir.
Acclaim
The focus on terroir defines the wines he makes. It is the clearest expression of his work. That clarity is the point of the acclaim: not a pursuit of novelty, but of fidelity to the vineyard and to the character already present there. In Fabien Geantet’s hands, the domaine’s wines are framed as an expression of place first and foremost, with terroir serving as both method and message.
