i. Biography
Gál Lajos is a Hungarian winemaker based in Eger who is associated with Gál Lajos Pincészete in the Rózsásdűlő area of Eger. Source snippets also is a trained viticulture engineer and chemist who previously worked in research and teaching at Eszterházy Károly University in Eger before focusing on his own wines in retirement. By 1999, he had begun releasing wines under his own label, with his estate producing varietals including Olaszrizling, Kékfrankos, Kadarka, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Bordeaux varieties.
