Gemma Matsuyama

Gemma Matsuyama is a pastry chef whose career has included Blue Hill at Stone Barns, n/naka in Los Angeles, and the Echo Park sister restaurants OTOTO and Tsubaki, where she was featured in 2021 as a StarChefs Los Angeles Rising Stars Pastry Chef award winner. She was born in Japan and raised mostly in New Jersey, later training in Italy at the Istituto Alberghiero di Villa Santa Maria in Abruzzo before returning to the United States for restaurant work. More recently, she has been identified as the chef/owner behind Kimochi, a San Diego mochi-focused business and pop-up/catering project.
