In Rheinhessen and Monzernheim, Roll works as winemaker and owner with a focus on white wines, especially Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The style is defined by handcrafted detail and exactness, with an emphasis on precision and texture so the wines stay polished without losing the character of origin and grape variety. “Grape varieties, like Riesling, strongly convey typicity and origin,” she says. The point is direct: varietal character matters, and the wine should carry where it comes from without needing to announce it. The bottlings underline that approach. Weedenborn Rheinhessen Grand Réserve Trocken 2020, a 98-point cuvée of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay matured on the lees for 30 months, shows how patience can build depth and composure. Westhofener Terra Rossa Riesling trocken 2016 is described as her top dry Riesling bottling, placing precision at the center of the range. Savignon Blanc QbA by Gesine Roll 2024, rated 90+ Falstaff points, adds another marker of consistency and control. “Right from the beginning, this tasted special,” she said of one wine.
