i. Biography
Gina Gallo’s work sits at the point where family knowledge meets technical winemaking. At E. & J. Gallo Winery, she serves as Senior Director of Winemaking, a role grounded in the kind of production decisions that come from long exposure to the business and to the cellar. Raised on a family farm in Modesto, California, and surrounded by famiglia, she has described the value of learning the science behind wine from the start.
The Climb
Winemaking training at University of California, Davis gave Gina Gallo the technical base that followed her into the Modesto winery in 1990. That move placed her inside E. & J. Gallo Winery’s working production structure, where she has remained in the winery’s Modesto, California operation and advanced to Senior Director of Winemaking.
