    Portrait of Gordon Clarke

    i. Biography

In Lluidas Vale, Jamaica, Worthy Park Estate Ltd. works in the long grammar of cane, heat, and time. Gordon Clarke’s place in that system has been built through fermentation, distillation, oak, and strength: the core operations that define the estate’s rum and the standards that carry it.

    The Climb

At Worthy Park Estate Ltd, the work began in the Sugar Factory, where Gordon Clarke served as Production Manager - Sugar Factory from 1993–1998. That period was shaped by plant discipline and process control, the kind of grounding that teaches how the estate functions before a spirit ever reaches the still. He later returned as Distillery Manager at Worthy Park Estate Ltd. Today, as shareholder and director and Managing Director and CEO of Worthy Park Estate Ltd, he remains tied to the same making process, now from the estate’s top level of responsibility.

    Today

Worthy Park Select Rum shows the estate’s aged style through a blend of rums aged a minimum of 4 to 12 years in once-used American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. Aged at the estate, it is built on structure, cask time, and the character that comes from Jamaican origin and American oak. Worthy Park Overproof Jamaican Rum sits at the other end of the range: a blend of five different unaged rum marks, bottled at 63% ABV. Where the Select expression relies on maturity, the overproof leans on directness, showing what raw distillation and unaged marks can carry on their own. Together, the two bottlings map the estate’s range.

    Signature

Gordon's signature wines include Worthy Park Select, Worthy Park Overproof Jamaican Rum-Bar Gold, Rum Cream, and Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve. Each name sits within the wider Worthy Park story, extending the estate’s identity across different expressions while keeping the focus on rum as craft, heritage, and continuity.

In Their Words “I had a dream to build a distillery and apply the management style and efficiencies into the plant and develop a new Jamaican Rum Brand that would be a sustainable alternative to the brands controlled by the monopoly player.” “The terroir of Jamaica is perfect for making perfect rum, and Worthy Park is the best location within Jamaica.”

    Recognition

The public record of Gordon Clarke’s work is carried most clearly in the rums themselves. Worthy Park Select Rum marks the aged side of the portfolio through once-used American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and a blend spanning a minimum of 4 to 12 years.
