i. Biography
Coming Up
At Champagne Geoffroy in Cumières, the early training was built on repetition, observation, and continuity. From 1980, Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy worked within the family estate alongside his father and his father’s cousin Pierrot, learning the vineyard and cellar rhythms that carry a house over time. The work stayed close to the fruit and the season, with daily attention turned into method through steady practice.
Where They Are Now
In 2008, Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy and his wife Karine moved the winemaking and commercial operations of Champagne Geoffroy to Aÿ, into a property built in the late 19th century. The relocation gave the house a new working base without breaking the line back to its earlier form, keeping production tied to a site already marked by time. For a grower-producer, that kind of setting matters: the work is seasonal, measured in vintages, and carried by the practical demands of the estate as much as by its history. From there, Jean-Baptiste continues to oversee 14 hectares of vineyards of Champagne Geoffroy, balancing vineyard stewardship with the broader running of the business.
Signature
The signature wines here are Expression – NV, Pureté – NV, and Terre 2015 – Edition limité. Together, they show a house working across non-vintage continuity and single-year distinction. Expression – NV and Pureté – NV sit in the non-vintage range, where consistency across release matters as much as individual bottles. Terre 2015 – Edition limité brings in a specific year and a limited-edition format. Read together, the three cuvées point to the standards Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy has helped maintain at Champagne Geoffroy: controlled, deliberate, and anchored to the estate.
