The Climb

Work in car and moto races gave Jean-Claude Mas an early pace and a practical understanding of movement before wine entered the picture. Bordeaux (1990–1993) then added a different rhythm, extending his exposure to the trade before he moved into making wine itself. At Nicole Estate, he did the first blends of the family’s first bottled wines, a step that tied blending and bottling to the family line rather than treating them as separate acts. That sequence — motion, Bordeaux, blending — led into the role he has held since 2000 as founder and Executive Manager of Les Domaines Paul Mas.

Today

At Les Domaines Paul Mas, Jean-Claude Mas frames the estate around a plain but demanding standard. “With the greatest respect for our rural roots, we aim for perfection. It is our mission to inspire real emotions,” he says. The line reads less like branding than a working brief: keep the grounding, keep the finish, and make the bottle land with feeling.

Signature

Jean-Claude's signature wines include Arrogant Frog and Paul Mas Prima Perla Blanquette St Hilaire. They sit within the identity he has built at Les Domaines Paul Mas: wines with a clear name, a clear place in the range, and a direct line back to the estate.
