Jean-Georges Vongerichten

Jean-Georges Vongerichten is a French-American chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author born in Alsace, France, who trained as an apprentice at Auberge de l’Ill under Paul Haeberlin before working with Paul Bocuse and Louis Outhier in France and later training in Asia at the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, the Meridien Hotel in Singapore, and the Mandarin Hotel in Hong Kong. He became executive chef at Lafayette in New York in 1986, later opened JoJo and Vong, and launched his flagship Jean-Georges in New York in 1997. He is the chef and proprietor behind a worldwide restaurant group of roughly 60 restaurants.
