Macy trained at INSEAD, Trinity College-Hartford, and Groton School, a combination that suggests both breadth and discipline before his career settled into the rhythms of wine and estate leadership. Those years of education form the quieter prelude to the more visible chapters that followed in Tuscany, where management, place, and production would become inseparable parts of his work.

The Work Today

Since 2019, Macy has led Fanciulle Vini as Founder and CEO, guiding the project from Siena with an enduring commitment to Tuscan winemaking. The language of the role is corporate, but the setting is unmistakably regional: the work remains tied to Tuscany, and the center of gravity is the craft itself. Across the years, Macy’s path has been defined by this connection—first in the extended leadership at Castello Poggiarello in Sovicille, and now in the ongoing life of Fanciulle Vini.

Signature

Jem's signature wines include FANCIULLE Villaggio 2019 and FANCIULLE Vigneto Primo 2019. Even in their naming, the wines carry the crisp identity of the house, each one marked by the same year and the same Tuscan frame that anchor Macy’s current chapter.

In Their Words “I’ve moved onto a new winery project since that episode, Vinitas, (web site launching in March or so, wines available from Fall 2020 on–also Tuscan reds). Poggiarello is still making great wines.” “Initially, I wanted to create a négoce, such as are common in Burgundy, buying high quality, organic grapes from different vineyards around Tuscany and making wines from them.”

Acclaim

The clearest marker of Macy’s career is the arc from education into estate leadership, then company founding in Siena.
