i. Biography
João Paulo Frankenfeld is the chef behind Casa 201 in Jardim Botânico, Rio de Janeiro, where he leads a French-based tasting-menu restaurant that opened in 2023. He is a former basketball player who studied with Paul Bocuse and later became head chef at Le Cordon Bleu in Rio before taking over Casa 201. Casa 201 has since been described as a Michelin-starred restaurant, and Frankenfeld has also been reported as winning local gastronomy honors including chef revelação and chef do ano.
