Julianne Laks was winemaker at Cakebread Cellars in Rutherford from 2002 to 2017. The work tied cellar analysis to vineyard calls: vintage tracking, night harvests, and whole-cluster pressing for Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. “Our evocative 2016 vintage yields bright, concentrated, varietal aromas and flavors.” Julianne has said.

Training at University of California, Davis gave Julianne Laks the technical base that carried into production roles at Beringer Vineyards in Napa and then as enologist at Beaulieu Vineyard. In Rutherford, Cakebread Cellars became the long run of that practice, with each step moving through lab work, enology, assistant winemaking, and finally winemaker at Cakebread Cellars in Rutherford (2002–2017).
