Laurent Fresnet

The Path

Training at a renowned research centre in Avize and at the University of Reims gave Laurent Fresnet the technical base for a career built on precision. He then served as Cellar Master at Champagne Henriot in the Reims region of Champagne until 2020, before taking up the same role at Maison Mumm in Reims, France from 2020, where the house style continued to be shaped by his approach.

The Work Today

Mumm’s style is framed by Fresnet in simple terms: “I tend to sum up Mumm’s style as “the celebration of Pinot Noir.” This grape variety is the signature of the house and the backbone of all our cuvées.” A reference point for that style is Mumm Cordon Rouge Vinothèque 1961. Fresnet has described it as the fullest expression of the house style, with power, aromatic range, elegance, and balance.
