At Château Marquis de Terme in Margaux, the work is the long, exact task of holding character steady while refining it. As Managing Director there from 2011, Ludovic David sits inside that balance: preserving structure, letting fruit lead, and shaping a house style through repeated tasting, adjustment and decision. His own preference is plain in the best sense: "What I love is fruity wines with silky tannins, so we managed our winemaking techniques to increase this." The point is not rhetoric but texture. Since 1986, the family vineyard of Champagne Ludovic David in Villers-sous-Châtillon has given that same logic a second setting: continuity through hands-on care, with responsibility passed forward rather than put on display. Taking over that vineyard means keeping the line intact while working it in a way that remains personal.

Where They Are Now

The language of the cellar stays fixed on fruit and tannin. "Both vintages show very well the evolution of our style and the technique we use to obtain a fruity nose and soft tannins." What matters here is not novelty for its own sake, but the measured development of style: fruit on the nose, softness in the tannin, and technique used to bring the two into line.

In Their Words “They are Blue-Ray compared to DVD. They give high definition to the fruit — brilliant, vibrant and mineral with a purity of fruit which could be too much alone, but is softened and balanced by the oak-aged wine.” The comparison is useful because it is specific: greater definition, more clarity, less blur. Fruit is treated as something that can be sharpened without being flattened, then brought into balance by oak-aged wine. “Both vintages show very well the evolution of our style and the technique we use to obtain a fruity nose and soft tannins.” This is the working brief in compressed form: evolution, technique, fruity nose, soft tannins.
