M. Carrie Allan is the Senior Vice President of Communications and Brand at Humane World for Animals (formerly the Humane Society of the United States), where she previously led the organization’s editorial team and edited Animal Sheltering magazine, now HumanePro. She also writes as a freelance cocktails and spirits journalist for The Washington Post and other outlets including Imbibe and Food & Wine. Her work has received awards from the Dog Writer’s Association of America, the Cat Writer’s Association, the Association of Food Journalists, and the James Beard Foundation.
