    i. Biography

    Markus Del Monego is a German sommelier and Master of Wine who became the first German to win the ASI Best Sommelier of the World competition in 1998 in Vienna. He later earned the Master of Wine title in 2003, becoming the first person to hold both the Sommelier World Champion and Master of Wine credentials. He is based in Essen and is the owner and managing director of tasteTainment GmbH, where he works in wine and beverage consulting.
