i. Biography
Matthew Day is the winemaker at Klein Constantia in Constantia, South Africa, and has been in the role since 2012. Klein Constantia identifies him as only the third winemaker since the estate’s revival in the 1980s, and sources note that he brings experience from Stellenbosch University and wine regions including Saint-Émilion, Barossa, and Napa. He has also been credited in trade coverage as a leader in the estate’s Vin de Constance and Sauvignon Blanc program, and Decanter reported that he was named Tim Atkin MW’s Young Winemaker of the Year for 2016.
