Miljenko “Mike” Grgich

Miljenko “Mike” Grgich (April 1, 1923–December 13, 2023) was a Croatian-American winemaker whose work in Napa Valley helped elevate California wines internationally. He arrived in Napa Valley in 1958, worked at Souverain Cellars, and later made the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that won the 1976 Judgment of Paris tasting. In 1977 he founded Grgich Hills Estate in Rutherford, California, and later co-founded Grgić Vina in Croatia in 1996.
