i. Biography
Noah Sandoval is the Chef and Owner of Oriole, a two Michelin-starred restaurant he opened in Chicago's West Loop in March 2016 with his wife Cara Sandoval, which earned the stars in its first eligible year and has retained them since. Born and raised in Virginia from a military family, he dropped out of high school at 16, began as a pot washer at Helen’s in Richmond under mentor David Shannon, and advanced through Chicago kitchens including C-House under Marcus Samuelsson, sous chef at Spring and Schwa, and executive chef at Senza where he earned his first Michelin star. Named Food & Wine’s 2017 Best New Chef, he won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Great Lakes in 2025.
