Technical training in Fermentation Science at University of California, Davis (1985) gave Pam Starr a framework for the kind of work that rewards precision before flourish. That background reads clearly in the wines: measured decisions, close attention to structure, and a winemaker’s habit of working with vineyard fruit rather than forcing it into place. Since 1997, that approach has remained tied to Crocker & Starr Wines in St. Helena, California, where she has held the combined role of Co-Owner & Winemaker.

Today

Balance is the governing principle at Crocker & Starr Wines, and Pam Starr has made that principle legible in the cellar since 1997. The work centers on Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, a Malbec blend, and Sauvignon Blanc, with each wine shaped to carry power without excess and structure without stiffness. The standard is stated plainly in her own words: “Our philosophy at Crocker & Starr is to capture the greatness of the Crocker Vineyard in powerful and balanced wines without compromise.”

Pam's signature wines include Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Sauvignon Blanc.
