Since 2005, Pierre Gabison has owned Château de Caraguilhes in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse, France, after first arriving in its story as a shareholder and persuading Lionel Faivre that he and an associate could carry forward its organic winemaking tradition. The turn came after Faivre decided to sell the estate in 1998; Gabison’s answer was not reinvention, but continuity sharpened around healthy vines, terroir, and wines that speak plainly of Boutenac.
Early Years

Gabison produces wines intended to let it speak without trying to dress it up, drawing on a diversity of grape varieties and microclimates that allow unique blends. More than four years of biodynamics through Biodyvin have been adopted to bring precision and cohesion to the approach and to work in harmony with nature. A concrete marker of the cellar is Solus, one of the estate’s top Corbières reds. Solus 2008 was described as its top red in the context of an organic wine competition, a specific vintage tied to the same organic frame that runs through Gabison’s ownership.
