i. Biography
In 2008, Rémi Dalmasso gave shape to a deeply personal idea: he planted the vineyard garden in front of his house and launched Clos Romanile, his own wine project. What emerged was never meant to be a grand, sprawling statement, but something far more intimate and exacting—a rare, tiny-production Saint-Émilion wine of about 1,000 bottles. The project has the unmistakable feel of a passion made tangible, and it sits within the garagiste movement, where scale is modest and attention to detail is everything. Clos Romanile reads less like a commercial label than a private conversation between place, craftsmanship, and conviction, distilled into each bottle.
At a Glance Clos Romanile is shaped with the kind of precision that only very small production allows. The wine is micro-vinified entirely in 500-liter wooden barrels, a method that lends the process an unusually close, hands-on character from start to finish. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels, and the wine then continues to age in 100% new French oak for about 20 months. Every step underscores the same philosophy: controlled, deliberate, and designed to preserve the concentrated identity that defines the wine. Its specialty is small-production, concentrated Saint-Émilion wines, the kind that invite attention not through volume, but through focus and specificity.
Signature
Rémi's signature wines include Clos Romanile and Galaxies 2 Romanile. Together, they anchor his identity as a winemaker working on a small, exacting scale, where each cuvée carries the imprint of the same careful intent. Clos Romanile remains the central expression of the project that began in 2008, while Galaxies 2 Romanile extends that story, adding another facet to the range. In both, the emphasis is on concentration, limited production, and the singularity that comes from making wine in a way that is as personal as it is meticulous.
