Wine buying, selling, and beverage direction are built on the same set of muscles: reading a list with discipline, placing bottles against season and service, and understanding how a beverage program functions inside a dining room. Sean Razee entered that work in 2013 at Vail Resorts’ Mountain Dining Division, where the pace of the operation required clear judgment and steady execution. The early years read less like a calling card than a training ground—one that rewarded repetition, palate development, and technical confidence. That foundation shows in the way a wine program moves from selection to service. Sean Razee’s path from wine buyer and seller to Beverage Director points to a career shaped by both inventory and interpretation, with attention paid to how wine is read by guests and framed by the table. In that kind of work, the craft sits in the details: knowing what a list can carry, how service changes perception, and how to make complexity usable without stripping it down. Wine Education asks for the same discipline, but with the added burden of translation. As director of Wine Education of Southern Glazer’s of Colorado, Sean Razee works in the space where knowledge has to be made legible to others without losing its structure. The role draws on years of hands-on experience and puts it to use in a more instructional register: part guide, part interpreter, part steward of a field that depends on precision as much as enthusiasm.
