Winemaking for Shauna Rosenblum starts with trained attention to form. California College of Arts and Crafts and San Francisco Art Institute gave her a working base in composition, texture, structure, and restraint—useful tools in a cellar that rewards judgment over noise. Before the title of Lytton Springs Winemaker entered the picture, that art training was already shaping how she reads fermentation, balance, and nuance as parts of the same discipline. At Rock Wall Wine Company (2008–2022), the work became more granular. More than a decade as winemaker there gave Rosenblum the repetition that sharpens cellar instinct: knowing when to intervene, when to wait, and how to build a personal register through daily practice. By the time she moved to Ridge Vineyards (Lytton Springs) in Healdsburg in 2022, the framework was clear enough for her to name it plainly: “Wine is science and art, my two favorite subjects.”

Where They Are Now

At Ridge Vineyards, Lytton Springs has become the place where Rosenblum’s method is most visible: patience, attentiveness, and a light hand. Her approach is low intervention by design—“Low intervention winemaking (i.e. Native yeast, native malolactic) allows the flow of nature to take control.” In that model, the cellar does not overwrite the vintage; it gives the season and the fruit room to land on their own terms. The through line back to her art training is direct. The same instinct that values uncertainty in the studio carries into the cellar, where Rosenblum treats restraint as a working principle rather than an aesthetic pose. “I always felt that made the most interesting art, and I continue to find that it makes the most interesting wine as well.”

Shauna's signature wines include Geyserville, Lytton Springs, 2020 Lytton Estate Syrah, and 2024 Lytton Estate Rosé. Taken together, they show a range that moves between structure and lift while staying inside the same disciplined framework: measured, attentive, and built to let the wine carry its own shape.
