i. Biography
Based in Argentina since 2006, Sorrel Moseley-Williams has built a practice that moves between reporting and service with equal fluency. As a freelance journalist and sommelier, she has developed a Cabernet Franc-driven outlook that runs through both beverage work and writing, giving the output a clear line on place, palate, and purpose.
The Climb
The author credit on mil at Catapulta (2022) is a compact record, but it shows how early the overlap between editorial work and tasting had already taken hold. In Sorrel Moseley-Williams’ case, the page and the glass were never separate tracks for long; the work points to a journalist’s attention to detail and a sommelier’s focus on balance, structure, and nuance. Those roles place her in Argentina while keeping her connected across the region, where reporting, tasting, and judging inform one another. The work sits inside travel, food and drinks, with Latin America as the recurring frame.
Today
Her current work spans freelance journalism, sommelier work, and the academy chair post for South America at World's 50 Best Bars. She also serves as executive sommelier for the Grupo Thames restaurant group in Buenos Aires. Across those posts, Sorrel Moseley-Williams’ Cabernet Franc-driven style remains the through line: precise, expressive, and attentive to what the glass is saying. It is a fit for a career spent translating the region’s hospitality and beverage culture for readers beyond it.
Signature
Sorrel's signature dishes include Mil, Dill & Tonic, and Sorol Wines. The list draws a line through editorial work, drinks projects, and collaborations that sit within Argentina’s contemporary beverage conversation.
In Their Words “I’m a British freelance journalist and sommelier living in Argentina since 2006 covering travel, food and drinks in Latin America; I’m also the World’s 50 Best Bars academy chair for South America.” “I’m co-founder of Dill & Tonic, a ready-to-drink gin and tonic made in Argentina, which launched in July 2020 and Sorol Wines, a collaboration with Lui Wines.”
Recognition
The academy chair role places Sorrel Moseley-Williams inside one of the sector’s most watched judging structures. In 2022, she was a judge for the AAS Best Argentine Sommelier contest. Her sommelier qualification in December 2014, along with WSET 3 and the Court of Master Sommeliers level one introductory certificate, underpins the work and gives formal shape to a practice formed through both training and experience.
