i. Biography
Vincenzo Abbruzzese is the owner and winemaker of Valdicava, a winery in the Montosoli area north of Montalcino, Tuscany, founded by his grandparents Martini Bramante and his wife in 1953. Born and raised in Siena, he worked summers at the family estate during his youth, studied engineering in Florence, and took over Valdicava in 1987 upon his grandfather's decision to sell, transforming it through vineyard improvements and cellar renovations into an elite Brunello di Montalcino producer. Under his leadership, Valdicava pioneered the first single-vineyard Brunello (Madonna del Piano) in 1977 and employs separate fermentations for each vineyard parcel, producing only Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, and the Riserva from organically farmed Sangiovese on 10-27 hectares.
