i. Biography
His work in Argentine wine is built on a commitment to local production and the family business model, a position Walter Bressia has described without ornament: “We started out in 2001, which was a difficult year for Argentina, but I had a lot of faith in local wine and the family business model. I knew that it worked elsewhere in the world and I wanted to replicate that.”
The Climb
Technical grounding came first at Nieto Senetiner, where Walter Bressia trained before moving into cellar work that shifted him from preparation to authorship. He then worked as winemaker at Bodega Vistalba and Viniterra until 2003, a stretch that shaped a style attentive to balance, measured in approach, and tied closely to the grape rather than to intervention. Since 2003, he has been owner and winemaker of Bodegas Bressia, building the house under his own name and extending a project defined by patience, continuity, and confidence in Argentine wine.
Today
The cellar rule Walter Bressia gives is simple: “I seek harmony, making sure the wood isn’t overbearing and the fruit comes through clearly, without flaws.” That is a working standard built on proportion. Wood is a frame, not the subject; fruit stays legible, not masked. The result is a style that favors clarity over excess and keeps technique in service of what the wine already offers.
Signature
Walter's signature wines include Lagrima Canela, Profundo, Conjuro, Bressia Monteagrelo Cabernet Franc, and Bressia Monteagrelo Malbec. Together, these wines show range without breaking from the same discipline: each name carries its own register, while the through-line remains harmony, definition, and structure. The set points to a winemaker working in layers, where identity is built through texture and the slow reveal of flavor rather than declaration.
In Their Words “We started out in 2001, which was a difficult year for Argentina, but I had a lot of faith in local wine and the family business model. I knew that it worked elsewhere in the world and I wanted to replicate that.”
