The Climb
Hotel work is built in layers: service pace, cash handling, floor authority, then the coordination that holds a house together. Wilhelmina Skogh moved through each of those stations in order, starting as a dishwasher at Strömparterren restaurant in Stockholm, then taking the cashier’s desk at Gävle Stadshotell in Gävle, and later becoming restaurant manager at the station restaurant in Storvik. By 1902, that progression had carried her to the manager’s post at Grand Hôtel in Stockholm.
