The fruit stays on family ground before Flavio Saglietti , winemaker at Azienda Agricola Saglietti Flavio in La Morra, brings it into the cellar under his own name. Since 1997, he has carried both the winery and the winemaker role here, keeping the work attached to the same hills, the same seasonal cycle, and the same set of decisions that turn Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto into the house’s red wines. The estate sits on Bricco del Dente, above La Morra, with vines around it rather than at a remove. That matters in a cellar where the stated line is estate fruit only, from vineyards planted to native red varieties. Saglietti’s lineage is family first. Giacomo Saglietti is named with the agricultural company that remains on Bricco del Dente, and the estate is third generation in its present stewardship. Flavio’s own sentence for the work is plain: “family is the value on which I base my activity as a wine producer.” In practice, that value reads less like sentiment than continuity, a maker staying long enough to understand how one parcel answers a dry season, how another holds its structure, and when the cellar should leave well alone.

Brunate, Cerequio, and the native reds

The program is narrow by design. Nebbiolo carries the Barolo work, with Barolo from Cerequio and Barolo from Brunate anchoring the estate in two named crus of the commune’s wider discipline. Dolcetto d'Alba and Barbera d'Alba sit beside them, not as side notes, but as the other registers of a cellar built around native red grapes. Barolo DOCG sets its own frame for aging, and the wines from Cerequio and Brunate carry that expectation into the bottle. What the house publishes most clearly is not a list of cellar tricks, but a boundary: the grapes come exclusively from its own vineyards. That boundary gives Saglietti control before fermentation begins, at pruning, ripening, picking, and the first sorting of fruit. Bricco del Dente brings the rest of the pressure. In La Morra, Nebbiolo asks for patience on the vine and restraint after it, especially when a wine is meant to hold both the generosity of the hill and the line of Barolo DOCG.

The room around this work is quiet, rural, and close to the vineyard. Tastings here belong to the cellar, the vineyard, and the small estate rather than to a staged hospitality floor; the scale keeps the visitor near the agricultural facts. Outside are Barolo vines and countryside views. Inside, the wines return to their parcels by name. The setting gives the place its tempo: La Morra light on the slopes, a family cellar at the hill, and a winemaker whose tenure has made repetition part of the method. Nothing about the estate needs distance to become legible. The same name is on the door, the cellar, and the bottle, and the clearest thread still runs through Cerequio.
