Forty hectares under continental weather

The estate works from around 40 hectares of its own vineyards and produces about 300,000 bottles a year, enough scale to make the hand of technical direction visible in consistency rather than in rarity. The valley sits at over 1,000 m elevation, with sandy, clay-limestone, and pebbly soils carrying old pre-phylloxera Tinto Fino vines alongside younger parcels. Planting density is given as 2,500 vines per hectare. In this part of Ribera del Duero, the continental climate brings low rainfall and large temperature swings, conditions that pull concentration and freshness into the same frame.

French oak is central to the program, with aging stated at up to five years. The portfolio moves through Viridiana, Atalayas de Golbán Crianza, and Torre de Golbán Reserva, with La Celestina and La Celestina Vendimia Seleccionada adding further readings of the same grape and place. The house has been described as pursuing modern wine in a classic wine zone, and the cellar facts support that: selection, intervention, and élevage are part of the method, but the base note remains Ribera del Duero Tinto Fino.

A production winery beside the vines

The setting is a production winery in the village of Atauta, near San Esteban de Gormaz, with the cellar’s quiet tied to vineyard work rather than to hospitality ritual. The useful texture is outside as much as inside: high ground, mixed soils, old vines, a valley known for hard weather and concentrated reds.
