Laherte Frères begins with a patchwork of vineyards. Based in Chavot-Courcourt, the family estate works 75 plots across three Champagne areas and has bought grapes from like-minded growers since 2011. Aurélien Laherte has helped shape the seventh-generation estate since 2005.
Wood as a working vessel
The house says 80% of its wines ferment and mature in wood. About 350 oak barrels, six casks and a truncated-cone tank give it room to handle parcels separately before blending. The significance is not a generic oak flavor but the ability to make decisions plot by plot.

Ultradition Brut draws on Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from more than one area. Empreintes turns to Chavot’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Together they show how the same cellar discipline can serve a broad assemblage and a narrower account of the home village.
