You enter through the slice shop, bright and lined with white tiles, where a display case showcases an example of each of the nine house pizzas. A curtain separates this area from the restaurant. On the other side, the lights dim and the atmosphere changes. Dark wood floors and panels absorb the glow from the bar. Funk and soul music play from the speakers. The menu expands beyond slices to include whole pizzas, salads, and classic Italian-American dishes like meatballs and chicken Parmesan. The chicken Parm is excellent: crispy where it needs to be and rich with sauce in all the right places. Among the desserts is a perfect chocolate chip cookie, and it's not an exaggeration. The drink menu includes non-alcoholic beverages and cocktails. The pizzas are strong throughout. The humidity of New Orleans can be tough on dough, and here the crust shines best when the outside air is a bit less swampy. The Tomato pie is a standout.
