The Climb
Winegrowing in Plastovo, Skradin, Croatia, frames the work: Dalmatian site, cellar decisions, and the responsibilities of ownership are tied together in the bottles. Early in his career, Alen Bibich worked as winemaker and proprietor at BIBICh Winery, building the practice around place, production, and the character of the local landscape.
Today
The role remains a combined one: business responsibility and wine production are handled as connected parts of the same craft. In Alen Bibich’s work, proprietor and winemaker are not separate identities; the decisions of the cellar and the direction of the winery inform each other. The wines are best read at the table. Freshness, minerality, and structure matter, but the defining measure is savory usefulness: bottles built to work with food rather than stand apart from it.
Signature
The signature range includes R6 Riserva, Bibich Brut NV, Bibich Debit 2016 Plastovo, Žutina, and Plavina, with Alen Bibich’s name attached to wines that keep the focus on place, texture, and meal-readiness.
Recognition
Recognition here comes through specificity rather than ornament: named wines, a defined place, and a craft role that joins production with proprietorship.
