Christina Hugl

Christina Hugl is a winemaker behind Christina Hugl I Sekt & Pet-Nat in Langenlois, Austria, where she works on sparkling wines and Pet-Nats. Her own account places cellar work at the center of her path. She was born into a family of winemakers, and the trade was present before she ever had the chance to choose it for herself. In sparkling wine, she sees repetition, timing, and close attention to detail as essential, and her approach is shaped by sensitivity and many small movements.

Her aim is to press sects and Pet-Nats with character that remains with the drinker. Hugl has been producing sparkling wines since 2014 and has been working in Langenlois since 2019. Her named wines include Rosa Pet-Nat brut NV, Red-Nat extra brut, Rieden-Cuvée Sektbox, and Sans Souci Grüner Veltliner 2020. These sit firmly in the sparkling category and reflect the focus of her own project. Her professional background includes a range of service and hospitality roles that preceded and overlapped with her later wine work.

She trained at Volksschule Drasenhofen, Gymnasium Laa an der Thaya, and Höhere Bundeslehranstalt für Tourismus Retz. Early work moved through service, banquet kitchen, and front-of-house settings at Hotel Restaurant Zistelalm in Salzburg, Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk, Restaurant Österreicher im MAK, and Therme Laa. At Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, she also worked in the brasserie and later in the starred restaurant La Tour, where she became Chef de Rang and Assistant Sommelier.

She later worked as Assistentin im Kundenbüro at Niederösterreichische Versicherung in Korneuburg and as Mitarbeiterin im elterlichen Betrieb at Weinviertler Sektmanufaktur in Stützenhofen. Since 2017, Hugl has been Inhaberin, Gründerin, and Winzerin of Christina Hugl. She has also worked for Point of View GmbH, where she is zuständig für Webseitenbetreuung und Social Media. Her path combines family winemaking, hospitality, and hands-on cellar work, with a clear focus on sparkling wines and Pet-Nats shaped by care, precision, and repeated attention to detail.
