Bordeaux training gave Christophe Cong the technical base for cellar work before he entered Château Doisy Daëne in Barsac as oenologist, where he remained until 1999. Those years were spent in the ordinary disciplines that define the trade: tasting, observing, and understanding how decisions made in vineyard and vat show up later in the glass. In 1999, he moved to a long tenure as Wine Operations Director at Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Duhart-Milon in Pauillac, a role he held until 2022. There, the work demanded management at scale, with precision carried across two major properties. Since 2022, Christophe Cong has been Managing Director of Château Lafon-Rochet, where the brief is to hold quality, identity, and visibility in the same frame.

Where They Are Now

In his words, "Lafon-Rochet is already in good shape before the takeover, so for us, the key task is to further increase the quality and the château’s visibility." The line is practical, not decorative. At Château Lafon-Rochet, the work is about tightening standards and making the estate read more clearly, not about starting over. The focus stays on refinement, on what can be improved without losing the shape of what already exists.
