i. Biography
Coming Up
Training at the University of Turin gave Enrico Orlando a technical base built on precision, patience, and respect for terroir. Those habits still frame the work at Ca' Richeta, where he is winemaker: less about imposing a style than about reading place and letting the wine answer it.
Where They Are Now
At Ca' Richeta, the wines are shaped to reflect Langhe terroir rather than a generic house profile. Enrico Orlando describes the aim plainly: "A wine as I really want it to be, which I have dreamt of, and produced in a way that could transmit to my friends a little bit of me, of my own history and of my Land." That approach starts in the vineyard, which he treats as the first working ground of the wine, not a separate stage before the cellar. For Enrico Orlando, seasonal change is part of the craft itself, and the work is tied to watching nature move through its own pace and order. "I am proud of witnessing the growth of buds, leaves and grapes, which then give life to my wine." Teaching at Istituto Tecnico Agrario Umberto I extends that same discipline into the classroom. There, he teaches Viticulture and Oenology, carrying the logic of the vineyard cycle into instruction and keeping theory tied to the practical realities of the vine.
Signature
Enrico's signature wines include Vino Passito rosso 2009, Crussi – Barolo DOCG 2015, Castellone – Langhe DOC Pinot Nero 2015, Dlà – Terre Alfieri Nebbiolo DOC Riserva 2018, and Enrico Orlando Vino Ottenuto da Uve Appassite. The range covers passito sweetness, Barolo structure, Pinot Nero finesse, and Nebbiolo's firmer, more age-willing line.
