i. Biography
Etienne Simonis has held the winemaking post at Domaine Étienne Simonis in Ammerschwihr, France, since 1999, with biodynamic wines at the center of the work. The estate was already part of his week as a child, when Wednesdays and weekends were spent in the vineyard with his father.
The Climb
Wine school in Beaune provided the formal training. The practice returned to Domaine Étienne Simonis, where Etienne Simonis took on the winemaker role in 1996.
Today
He continues in that role, with biodynamic wines as the focus. “That was the moment my passion truly developed. It was there that I discovered biodynamics, a way of farming that immediately spoke to me and that I was convinced I would apply when I returned to the estate.”
Signature
The signature range includes Grand Cru Kaefferkopf, Riesling Les Moulins, and Tangerine.
In Their Words “That was the moment my passion truly developed. It was there that I discovered biodynamics, a way of farming that immediately spoke to me and that I was convinced I would apply when I returned to the estate.”
