The Climb

Since 2000, Eulogio Pomares has been the winemaker and viticulturist of Bodegas Zárate, a role that puts him inside both the cellar routine and the vineyard’s longer calendar. The title carries two duties at once: making wine and reading the ground it comes from. Over time, that combination has kept Bodegas Zárate’s character tied to the life of the vines, with each decision in the cellar landing back on the estate itself.

Today

That same post continues today, and Pomares describes it in direct terms: “thanks to this we are today being able to make wine ourselves.” The line marks a shift toward authorship. It points to a practice built from continuity, where the present work is the result of accumulated effort rather than a break from what came before.

Signature

Eulogio's signature wines include Zárate, Balado, Tras da Viña, El Palomar, and Caiño Tinto. Taken together, these names map the range of his work at Bodegas Zárate, each one part of the estate’s broader expression. They are the labels through which his approach is identified, and the names that situate his craft within the house’s own vocabulary.
