Jean-Michel Cazes

Jean-Michel Cazes was a French winemaker and wine estate leader from Bordeaux who managed Château Lynch-Bages after returning from a career in engineering and IBM, and later expanded the family portfolio with Villa Bel-Air, L’Ostal Cazes, and Domaine des Sénéchaux in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. He founded JM Cazes Sélection in 2001 to market wines needing specific commercial promotion, and he helped build a broader group of estates under the Domaines Jean-Michel Cazes umbrella. Wine Spectator credits him with pioneering modern Bordeaux winemaking, international marketing, and wine tourism, including the development of Cordeillan-Bages and the village of Bages.
