Since 2002, Alzinger has worked as winemaker at Weingut Alzinger in Unterloiben, Austria, where precision is part of the daily brief. His wines are shaped by restraint and focus, with clarity preferred over ornament and the material allowed to come through without excess handling. That approach is visible in the estate’s signature wines. Loibenberg Riesling Smaragd puts Riesling at the center of the range. Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd and Grüner Veltliner Mühlpoint Smaragd show the same seriousness in the estate’s Grüner Veltliner work, with attention given to structure, expression, and site. Taken together, they point to a winemaker working by reduction: identifying what matters and leaving it in place.

Leo's signature wines include Loibenberg Riesling Smaragd, Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd, Grüner Veltliner Mühlpoint Smaragd, and Hochstrasser Grüner Veltliner. Read as a group, they show the range of his sensibility—Riesling and Grüner Veltliner held in careful balance, each bottle a variation on the same disciplined theme. Hochstrasser Grüner Veltliner rounds out that picture, reinforcing the sense of an estate language spoken fluently and without strain.
