At Les Vins Fins Anthony Barton (from 1980), Lilian Barton Sartorius joined the work of setting up Les Vins Fins Anthony Barton and learned the pace of the trade from the inside: the routine, the pressure, and the discipline required to keep a wine company functioning. That hands-on start became the base for a broader remit across the family holdings.

Where They Are Now

Presidency in a wine estate means balancing repetition with uncertainty, and Château Langoa Barton is no exception. The calendar may be fixed, but the work shifts with weather, with potential frost, and with the kind of attention that can turn urgent without warning. Lilian Barton Sartorius describes that load plainly: “I'm collecting lots of jobs these days.” The confidence in the room comes from the people around her and the inherited know-how within the family. “So it's a good thing I have people here who know how to make wine.”
