At the University of Perugia, the groundwork was academic before it became practical: Marco Caprai trained there, then moved into the family winery at Arnaldo Caprai in Montefalco, Umbria (1987–1988). That early period sits at the junction of study, inheritance, and a region where wine identity is read closely and judged with care. He later served as director at Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC Montefalco, Umbria, a role that sharpened his view of the systems behind quality, recognition, and regional standing. Since 1989, Marco has taken charge of the winery as president and CEO of Arnaldo Caprai. In that position, his name has become tied to Montefalco’s viticultural identity, not as decoration but as proof of long custodianship. The work has been about continuity and direction: keeping the estate anchored in place while making its position within Umbrian wine clear and defensible.

Where They Are Now

Sagrantino is the specialty, and the method is pointed rather than theatrical.
