Where They Are Now

Since 1998, Michael Keenan has continued as owner and president while leading the estate vineyards and winemaking. The structure is kept deliberately lean, with a small team and final decisions held close. That kind of setup favors clarity and control, especially when the work is aimed at improving grape quality from the ground up and carrying those choices through to the bottle. In Napa Valley, the program centers on Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay. The list is specific, but the stated purpose is straightforward: wine should work with food. As Keenan puts it, “The real point of wine is to better enjoy the accompanying food!” That line also describes the underlying method. Vineyard and cellar decisions are treated as part of the same job, with quality measured not only in the glass but at the table.
