i. Biography
Michael Wignall is the chef patron of The Angel at Hetton in North Yorkshire, where he and his wife Johanna acquired the 15th-century inn in 2018 and reopened it as a Michelin-starred dining destination. The restaurant earned a Michelin star after about a year under his leadership, and the venue’s official site says The Angel has also received five AA Rosettes and national acclaim since reopening in 2018. Earlier in his career, Wignall led kitchens at Gidleigh Park and The Latymer at Pennyhill Park, with coverage noting multiple Michelin-starred results at those properties.
