i. Biography
The Climb
University of La Rioja gave Milagros Rodriguez the technical base that winemaking demands: precision, patience, and a working command of the cellar’s mechanics. That formation carried into Bodega de Sarría, where from 2001–2006 she worked as assistant to the Technical Manager and learned the estate’s pace from the inside. The job meant close contact with the daily discipline of production, and it set the terms for the work that followed. Since 2006, Bodega de Sarría has been under the technical and winemaking headship of Milagros Rodriguez. The progression reads plainly: apprenticeship, then responsibility, then continuity. Her authority at the estate comes from years of direct familiarity with its work, not from theater.
Today
At Bodega de Sarría, Milagros Rodriguez still operates at the point where vineyard decisions meet cellar execution. That is where timing, observation, and consistency show up in the finished wine. Her method is measured and exacting, built around the idea that good wine is made through careful work sustained over time.
Signature
Viñedo Cinco Rosado and Gran Villa Reserva 2016 sit at opposite ends of Milagros Rodriguez’s range at Bodega de Sarría. One points to a rosado built for freshness and lift; the other shows what time and restraint can do in a Reserva. Taken together, they map her priorities: balance, detail, and a clear reading of the estate’s character.
In Their Words “The Reserva style is probably my favourite. It has completely softened and become more complex because of the time in barrel, but it has retained just enough of the primary fruit character to keep it fresh and drinkable without food.” “making good wine starts in the vineyard.”
