Peter Merriman

Peter Merriman is a Hawaii-based chef and culinary pioneer who founded Merriman’s Hawaii and helped launch Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman, a casual dining concept focused on locally sourced, sustainable meat, fish, and produce. Official Hawaii restaurant sources describe him as a culinary pioneer in Hawaii for more than 30 years and the “original locavore,” with Merriman’s locations across Maui, O‘ahu, the Big Island, and Kaua‘i. Monkeypod Kitchen’s official materials say he launched the concept in winter 2011 with restaurateur Bill Terry, and the chain later expanded to multiple locations including Maui and O‘ahu.
