Since 2004, Piero Incisa della Rocchetta has been the founder of Bodega Chacra of Bodega Chacra, shaping the project he leads today. That founding point set the terms of the estate: build from the ground up, keep the hand light, and let Mainqué remain legible in the finished wine. The emphasis has stayed on clarity over decoration, with time and discipline used to protect what the site can give.

Where They Are Now

The daily work is governed by weather and observation. At the estate, wine is made through thousands of small decisions, adjusted constantly to the season’s changes. In Piero Incisa della Rocchetta’s approach, that means tracking shift, pressure, and balance closely enough to preserve what the vineyard has already put in motion. The cellar serves that process through interpretation, not force.

Signature

Piero's signature wines include Barda, Chacra Treinta y Dos, Cincuenta y Cinco Pinot Noir, and Chacra Chardonnay. Taken together, they show how the estate works across site and parcel: Pinot Noir expressed through different vineyard ages and positions, and Chardonnay shaped by the same Mainqué discipline. Each wine stays within the same house logic while keeping its own register.

Honors

The estate’s dated milestones are carried through its cuvées. Barda Pinot Noir has been highlighted as one of its featured wines and described in tasting-event material as a 2020 Patagonia Pinot Noir. Even in that concise framing, the wine points to the estate’s larger aim: to state the region plainly, without losing precision. Chacra Treinta y Dos reaches further back through the vineyard: it comes from vines planted in 1932 in the Rio Negro Valley and is known for structure and aging potential. Cincuenta y Cinco Pinot Noir comes from vines planted in 1955, another old-vine marker in the range. Those dates are part of the wines’ identity, not just their history. The work is not limited to Pinot Noir. Chacra Chardonnay is presented as a world-class Chardonnay collaboration in Patagonian Argentina, placing the same Mainqué discipline around a different grape and a different expression of the region. Across the range, the standard remains the same: maximum purity, maximum poise, and a close reading of terroir.
