At Tuthilltown Spirits, the craft is shaped by a practical reroute: Ralph Erenzo moved to Gardiner in 2001 to open a climber’s ranch for camping and a bunkhouse, and when neighbors blocked that plan, distilling became the work that stuck. Before distilling, the operating discipline already had a public-facing edge. Ralph Erenzo served as president at City Climbers Club in New York City and as representative at American Alpine Club at the International Committee on Competition Climbing, roles that suggest a comfort with organization, advocacy, and the grind of building something durable in plain view. Today, he is co-founder of Tuthilltown Spirits, a role he has held since 2001. The company’s identity comes from that kind of start: two partners learning the trade by doing, then turning that process into a distillery that asked people to taste what small-scale production could mean.

Signature

Ralph's signature wines include Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey, Hudson Whiskey Single Malt, Four Grain Bourbon, Baby Bourbon, and Manhattan Rye. Taken together, those names map the house approach: grain-forward, recognizably American, and pointed at a modern craft distilling register without breaking from tradition. In that sense, the bottles speak to the core trade problem—how to make identity legible in a category shaped by scale.
