Raül Bobet’s formation begins not with a classroom named in public, but with a family cellar and the physical memory of grapes underfoot. “It was rather by chance, because my first connections with wine began when I was born. At home we had a bodega and by the time I was 3 years old, I was already treading grapes.” From that early contact, his path runs through Torres, where he worked from 1986 to 2004, and into his work as oenologist at Castell d’Encus in Talarn, Catalonia, Spain.
The Training The first lesson in Bobet’s wine life was proximity: wine as something inside the home, not outside it. The childhood bodega he recalls gives his later precision a familial root, a sense that method and instinct are not rivals but relatives. Torres gave the next long chapter. From 1986 to 2004, he worked there, carrying the early intimacy of wine into a professional setting over nearly two decades.
